Alliance for a Healthier Indiana

The Indiana Hospital Association (IHA) in collaboration with partners created the Healthier Indiana Alliance and have toured the state to detail the health of Indiana. As a state, Indiana, is one of the unhealthiest states in the nation with an overall health ranking of 38th. Even more alarming are the indicators IHA and its partners have identified as leading causes for the poor health of the state. Indiana is 40th worst in Obesity, 41st worse in percentage of adults who smoke, 42nd in infant mortality, and 49th worst in Public Funding per capita.

The event spotlighted the need for grassroots efforts to begin impacting change throughout the state. Union Health was represented by CEO, Steve Holman detailing the work the health system does within the community. The Lugar Center's Hicham Rahmouni was a member on a panel with Baby and Me Tobacco Free Coordinator Carrie Evans, and IUSM Faculty Dr. Randy Stevens.
